ok....ok.....ok.....here ya go!

They are a week old today. All they seem to do is eat and sleep. Sounds like such a luxurious lifestyle right about now! Ell is being a GREAT mother, and all pups are nursing well and gaining, but I can tell that Ell, my A.D.D. dog is extremely BORED.OUT.OF.HER.MIND in that whelping box all day! I do let her out to play with the other dogs and hang out with me, but her first duty (especially for the first few weeks) is to feed and clean those pups! While she does do it wonderfully, she doesn't ever like to go BACK in the whelping box (well she does but boy does she POUT!) Any suggestions? I do feed her in the box, which she jumps in for then, but she just seems so BORED. I hate to put treats or toys in there at this stage. Suggestions?

These photos are all taken from the past few days.....

A kaleidoscope of babies. They are so fat and shiny. Ell appears to be able to take great care of them so if they are in a warm place, you might give her a little more time out of the box. After all, she can only clean them so many times in an hour.

You can put an ex-pen around the box when you want Ell to stay in.

I think that one of your black boys might be a brindle. We need pictures of his face.

It is actually NOT part of the historic canine behavior that moms stay with their pups all the time. So long as Ell is seriously providing a long nurse for each pup several times per day, protecting them at night and cleaning them with each nursing, she is going great. Many especially bright bitches really do not stay in the pen/box/cave for long stretches after the first few days.

The pups look just smashing Garrett, so I would worry not at all!
